Female Leadership Development

In support of the University’s commitment to promoting leadership development and career progression for women, this section aims to bring together a selection of resources for female staff at Queen's.

  • The Advance HE Aurora Programme

    The programme is aimed at women and those who identify as a woman, up to Senior Lecturer level or the professional services equivalent (Grade AC3/4, Professional Services Grade 8/9), with the potential to progress into more senior roles. Queen's has committed to supporting a number of individuals from each Faculty and Professional Services to complete the Aurora programme.

  • Women in Business (WIB) Membership

    Women in Business (WIB) encourage peer support, collaboration and partnerships and they help to promote this through:

    • facilitated networking
    • monthly events
    • personal development masterclasses and workshops
    • numerous programmes
    • annual Awards and Conferences

    Women at Queen's can reap the benefits of a being a member of WIB. With more than 250 women attending events each month, members can make invaluable connections and develop relationships, helping them to develop both personally and professionally.

    To avail of this membership, please email your name and email address to [email protected], you will then be added to the Queen's membership, an email and password will be sent via the website with log in details and you will be able to start availing of all the WIB benefits.

    Queen’s Gender Initiative (QGI) is a female-focused entity that works to enhance the participation and visibility of women in all aspects of University life. 

  • Athena Swan at Queen's

    The Advance HE Athena Swan Charter is used internationally as a framework to support the advancement of gender equality within higher education and research. The Charter was established in 2005 to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education and research. Queen's University Belfast has been a member of the Athena Swan Charter since its formation in 2005.
